Treating AIDS patients with HIV-Specific Transfer Factor

Rationale: Specific transfer factor (TF) is known to be effective in treating viral infections and preliminary studies with AIDS patients and SIV-infected macaques have produced encouraging observations.
Methods: TF was made from immunized BALB/c mice. Its activity was tested in vitro, and it was orally administered to AIDS patients with <500 CD4 lymphocytes.
Results: 20 AIDS patients, treated with TF and zidovudine (ZDV) for more than 6 months, showed improvement or stabilization of their clinical condition and/or biological parameters. Four patients with a survival prognosis of 6 months have so far survived for more than 4 years. In one patient, a regression of KS and voluminous plantar warts was noticed. Skin tests became positive in 9/12 anergic patients. Furthermore, data in 5 patients suggest that TF may activate the Th/1 cytokine secretion pattern. Three other patients had PCR's that dropped from 268,000/mm3 to 24,000/mm3; 100,000/mm3 to 2,000/mm3; and 80,000/mm3 to 0.
Conclusion: HIV specific TF can be beneficial even in advanced AIDS patients. Further studies should determine whether treatment could indefinitely arrest disease progression. TF may also be able to prevent retroviral infections; and as a prophylactic vaccine (as in the case of VZV infections in immunocompromised leukemic children), it should be further investigated in animal models.

Thus persons who have AIDS are susceptible to opportunistic infections caused by pathogens ordinarily, in the non-immunodeficient patient, would be benign, or at least not life threatening. Transfer Factor Plus, by its ability to generally stimulate the immune system, and by its particular ability to increase the function of viral fighting Natural Killer Cells, should certainly be strongly considered as an adjuvant to be added to the arsenal of regimens used in the intervention of the progressive course of AIDS."
Dr. William Hennen: "The use of a general transfer factor preparation is well justified for preventative use. Much of what we have seen in the cases of AIDS and even the flu is that it is not the primary infection that kills, but rather the secondary, opportunistic infections that destroy the weakened individual."

Kenny's Story: An early success with Immune Boosting naturally in a young man with HIV. Update (Winter 2000): As many of you will remember, we introduced Kenny, a hemophiliac young man who was diagnosed as HIV positive ten years ago. After many years of experimental meds, Kenny started taking transfer factors and enhanced transfer factors in high doses some 9 months ago. We announced his first ZERO viral count and almost normalized CD4 (white blood count) in our last QV newsletter. Now three months later, he has had repeated counts of ZERO HIV viral counts and a normal CD4 count. And continues to be infection-free! You may have seen Kenny's story in the November issue of Teen People Magazine. Now Kenny is sharing his extraordinary experience with others who suffer with HIV disease. Amazing what the immune-boosting power of transfer factors and enhanced transfer factors can do!
